If I were to move back to Japan, I would love to train with Nicholas Pettas. When I lived there, it was so important to me to stay with the organization. I missed some great training opportunities, not that I had it bad.
In this vid, Nick is talking about different ways to deal with a middle kick. He illustrates his approach which depends on whether the kick is from the front or rear leg.

What's always been interesting to me is that Nicholas, Glaube, and Francisco really got their start in transitioning from Kyokushin to Kickboxing (K-1) from Maurice Smith...and a bit from Haru Shimanishi (HMC/AMC founder). I'm not taking anything away from Nicholas at all, I've communicated with him quite a bit 1.5 years back or so, and met him once by chance when I had Glaube autograph a magazine of mine when I was still a teen.
Nicholas still teaches knockdown karate/kickboxing, he has a small group which he doesn't advertise much. I know his standards are fairly high, which is no surprise, too. Osu!
