Amazon rob you blind. They take 30% off against US tax (ironic considering they were slated for not paying any in the UK) then I have to pay another 20% tax in the UK. Hmmm So I'll be disconnecting the kindle version soon and ordering / selling copies of the book direct. It's not about how much money I make, it's being shafted for 50% tax I object to. Gary
I don't think it's Amazon ripping you off (surprise, surprise) the U.S. IRS requires them to collect 30% as tax - which is fair enough, as I think they are trying to stop Amazon devastating local business by having an unfair advantage. I guess the uK figure is a mix of VAT and sellers fees? I think Amazon are quite happy to pay your tax for you, it's theirs they're less happy to pay!
P.S. If you get charged 30% of the whole price and then 20% on the remaining, that's only about 44% if that makes you feel any better!
